Around The Table – A Celebration of Food, Art and Community
Last Friday night, Bayley Arts was filled with warmth, colour and connection as we launched Around The Table—a group exhibition that celebrates how food brings people together.
Food does more than nourish us. It sparks conversation, creates shared experiences, and connects us to culture and community. This exhibition captures that beautifully.
Art Inspired by Shared Meals
The exhibition features artwork by Bayley Artists, as well as artists from Sandy Beach Centre, Ali’s Art School and local community members. Many of the pieces were inspired by the process of creating Bayley Arts’ first Community Cookbook—a joyful project that blends art, cooking and connection.
A Heartfelt Opening Night
The exhibition was officially opened by the City of Kingston Mayor, Hanna El Mouallem. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming.
Guests explored the art, joined in a collaborative art activity on a giant food-themed tablecloth, and enjoyed food featured in the cookbook. Hand-made sausage rolls and hummingbird cupcakes were crowd favourites—both made using recipes from the book.
Celebrating Creativity and Community
Food on the night was served with flair by John and Alex. The cookbook creators—our talented artists and chefs—were there to sign books for proud new owners.
It was a night of laughter, connection and creativity. A true celebration of the community that came together to bring this project to life.
Don’t Miss Out
Around The Table runs at Bayley Arts until this Thursday. It’s a feast for the senses, and a chance to reflect on the role food plays in bringing us all together.
Come along, pull up a seat at the table, and be part of something special.
